The City of Taft has established guidelines in accordance with the Public Information Act (formerly Open Records Act) to ensure that all records in the possession of and pertaining to the operation of the governmental body are available to the public through a systematic and centralized process.

The city secretary has the authority to release records in accordance with the Public Information Act, Open record request for the Municipal Court, and Police Department can be sent the City Secretary and will be sent to the respective department director in each of those departments to be completed.
